Title: Local Gospel on the Net
Date: 04-Mar-2002
Description: The Star, Monday March 4 2002

How do you get your songs to go international? Well, put it on the internet. That is what Malaysian songwriter Wah Lok has done. Since releasing his album Every Time I pray, he has established his website www.tabernaclemusic.net which carries six songs from the album, which can be downloaded for free.

His website has generated a huge interest and registered 69,000 hits in 11 months. Visitors logging on to his website come from around the world.

Some of Ng's worship songs are now being sung in many churches in Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Ng has placed many interesting features in his website including teaching materials on music and worship so that it becomes a worship resource center. The website also highlights new releases of Malaysian and Singaporean Gospel albums.

Ng says that Malaysian Gospel music has taken a backseat for many years. Malaysian churches are more interested in singing foreign songs, thinking that such songs are always better. Ng says this mentality has to change.

Malaysians must begin to believe in and use their own songs.
