Joanne Yeoh obtained a First Class Honours in her Degree from the University of Middlesex, United Kingdom in 1998. Upon completing her degree course, she was awarded a Luther and Ernest Gaunt Scholarship for Strings to study at the University of Leeds. During her study there, she was also chosen to receive a Foreign and Commonwealth Office Scholarship, in association with British Council and the University of Leeds. She has since completed her Masters in Music Performance (MMus).
While studying in the United Kingdom, she had the privilege to participate in several seminars and masterclasses held by prominent musicians. In the summer of 1998, she participated in the Aberswyth Music Festival in Wales, the celebrated Edinburgh Summer Festival and the Aberdeen Music Festival in Scotland. She was also given the opportunity to play an active role with the Sorrel Quartet during the Leeds Annual Music Festival 1999.Since returning to Malaysia, Joanne was selected to participate in the prestigious Asian Youth Orchestra for the year 2000, traveling to Vietnam, Japan, Australia, Korea and Hong Kong.
In 2002, Joanne had the privilege to perform alongside Hong Kong superstar Jacky Cheung in his Music Odyssey Tour 2002/03 covering over 40 concerts around the world. Her tour with Jacky Cheung included performances in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, China, Taiwan, Brunei, USA, UK and Canada.
In 2003, Joanne was once again selected to perform with Taiwanese heart-throb David Tao in his Soul Power Tour 2003 touring Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.
Amongst numerous Malaysian corporate and international events, Joanne has performed for The Malaysian Video Awards, The Outstanding Young Malaysian Awards, Asian Youth Dialogue Banquet, Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards 2003, Malaysian Tourism International Awards 2004, MSC Asia Pacific ICT Awards 2004, Asia Logistics Awards 2004 and the United World Colleges Awareness Dinner 2004.
In 2004, Joanne released her debut album entitled, Joanne Yeoh: Pulse of a Metropolis, comprising nine English songs and one Malay song. In the same year, she was selected as the honoree for "The Outstanding Young Malaysian Award (2004)", for the category of "Personal Improvement and Accomplishment".
