Day 10 - HOW FAITHFUL ARE YOU IN THE WORSHIP MINISTRY ?
Scripture Reading: 1 Chron 16: 37-43
1 Chron 16:37-43
37So he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister before the ark regularly, as every day's work required; 38and Obed-Edom with his sixty-eight brethren, including Obed-Edom the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, to be gatekeepers; 39and Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD at the high place that was at Gibeon, 40to offer burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offering regularly morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the Law of the LORD which He commanded Israel; 41and with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest who were chosen, who were designated by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because His mercy endures forever; 42and with them Heman and Jeduthun, to sound aloud with trumpets and cymbals and the musical instruments of God. Now the sons of Jeduthun were gatekeepers. 43Then all the people departed, every man to his house; and David returned to bless his house.
Discussion
Asaph and his brothers ministered before the ark regularly as every day's work required.(V37). It looked like they were very serious about their worship. They treated it like daily work. Many of us take our secular jobs very seriously. We are at work every day. When we are sick , we call the office to inform them of our medical leave. We apply for leave whenever we need to be away from office.
But look at how some musicians treat their worship services. Some do not turn up for practices without informing their worship leader. Some sleep late on Saturday nights and expect to be fresh on the Sunday Services. In reality, we do not treat our worship like our every day's work.
We cannot play only when we feel like playing. I call these the Coca Cola musicians. We cannot take a break as and when we feel like it. These are the Kit Kat musicians. We need to treat our worship like our every day's work.
Prayer
Father, I commit myself to be of service to you. Help me to serve in the worship ministry and treat it like my every day's work.
