WAH LOK'S WORSHIP DEVOTIONS

Wah Lok
Wah Lok

Welcome to my devotional page. I have written these devotions specially for those involved in the worship ministry. As you read them daily, I hope you will walk closer with God. Try to do one devotion per day and not all at one go. I pray my devotional thoughts will help you dedicate your music to God.

Day 25 - WORSHIP BY FAITH AND NOT FEELINGS

Scripture Reading: Acts 16:19-26

Acts 16:19-26
19 But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities. 20 And they brought them to the magistrates, and said, "These men, being Jews, exceedingly trouble our city; 21 and they teach customs which are not lawful for us, being Romans, to receive or observe." 22 Then the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. 23 And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. 24 Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed.

Discussion

Look at the circumstances Paul and Silas were in. They had been severely beaten and thrown into prison (verse23). They were put into the maximum security section and their feet fastened in the stocks. Blood must be oozing from their backs. How would you feel if you were in a position like them ? Would you feel like worshipping God ? But Paul and Silas did not allow their feelings to restrict their worship. They prayed and sang hymns. God worked a miracle immediately and their chains dropped off. By the end of the day, the jailer and his family were saved.

Don't wait until you feel good before you worship God. We were created for worship. We need to worship God regardless of our feelings. You may be tired or had a long day and may not feel like worshipping God. But spend time in worship and God can bring a refreshing to your life.

Worship by faith and by feelings !

Prayer

Father I pray you will help me to worship by faith and not by feelings. When I am discouraged, help me to come to your presence in worship so that I will be refreshed.
