Day 36 - THE PREPARATION FOR A KING
Scripture Passage
Est 2: 9-12
9Now the young woman pleased him, and she obtained his favor; so he readily gave beauty preparations to her, besides her allowance. Then seven choice maidservants were provided for her from the king's palace, and he moved her and her maidservants to the best place in the house of the women. 10Esther had not revealed her people or family, for Mordecai had charged her not to reveal it. 11And every day Mordecai paced in front of the court of the women's quarters, to learn of Esther's welfare and what was happening to her.
12Each young woman's turn came to go in to King Ahasuerus after she had completed twelve months' preparation, according to the regulations for the women, for thus were the days of their preparation apportioned: six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with perfumes and preparations for beautifying women.
Discussion
In the passage above, we find Esther getting herself ready to meet the King. Esther is symbolic of a Christian and the King is a type of Christ. Esther prepared herself for one full year before she met the King. Six months was spent soaking in oil of myrrh and another six more months, with perfumes. She took this preparation exercise very seriously.
How many of you prepare yourself seriously like Esther did, for a worship service ? Many Christians tend to have careless attitudes toward worship services for the King of Kings. Here are the barest minimum you should do to prepare for any worship services.
-
Read your Bible on a Saturday night and seek God for something fresh from His word.
-
Spend time praying for the Sunday Service.
-
Sleep early. Do not hang out late into the night.
-
Come early to the Sunday Service, fresh and ready.
-
Arrange all your songs sheets prior to the meeting. Do not do last minute preparations. Practice all your songs well.
-
Dress your best.
Many people come to a worship service unprepared. They sleep late into the night and come to services late or just on time. That is not the way to treat the King of Kings.
Prayer
Father I pray you will help me to prepare myself adequately for every worship service. I commit myself to pray and seek Your face for every worship service.
