DAY 33 - HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF WORSHIPPING WITH BANNERS ?
Scripture Reading: Ex 17:15-16, Ps 20:4, Ps 60:4
Ex 17:15-16
15 Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner. 16 He said, "For hands were lifted up to the throne of the LORD. The LORD will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation."
Ps 20:5
5 We will rejoice in your salvation, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions.
Ps 60:4
4 You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth.
Discussion
The word banner first appeared in the Bible when Israel defeated the Amalekites in war. To honor God for Israel's victory, Moses built an altar and God revealed Himself as our banner in Ex 17. In modern praise and worship, it is becoming quite common now that we hang banners in our churches and in mass rallys. But do remember that the raising of banners is worship to the Lord. It is a declaration of God's greatness and victory over His enemies.
Banners can be used very well when we have a march or a procession. The banners should go before the procession. The messages in our banners can be very powerful as they proclaim God's greatness and power.
Be creative today. Worship with banners.
Prayer
Father, I pray that I will rediscover the use of banners in praise and worship.
