Day 20 - IS YOUR WORSHIP TEAM UNITED ?
Scripture reading: 2 Chron 5:11-14
2 Chron 5:11-14
11 And it came to pass when the priests came out of the Most Holy Place (for all the priests who were present had sanctified themselves, without keeping to their divisions), 12 and the Levites who were the singers, all those of Asaph and Heman and Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, stood at the east end of the altar, clothed in white linen, having cymbals, stringed instruments and harps, and with them one hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets-- 13 indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying: "For He is good, For His mercy endures forever," that the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, 14 so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.
Ps 133:1-3
1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. 3 It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the LORD commanded the blessing--life forevermore.
Discussion
The worst thing for a worship team is disunity. Yet disunity is common in worship team. It is because musicians are usually very temperamental. Some say they are half temper and half mental. Disunity comes because of personality clashes and pride. Some musicians think too highly of themselves and perceive others to be slow. All these character weaknesses cause disunity. Musicians can clash over anything, for example - music too loud, too soft, not the right style, prefer another version, my instrument should be in the forefront, etc.
In verse 13, it is said that "the singers were as one voice to make one sound". They were singing and playing the instruments in unity. Whenever there is unity, "the Lord commands a blessing" (Ps 133:3). As a result of this united worship, the glory of the Lord came down. We cannot expect God to bless the worship services if the worship team have grievances against each other.
Prayer
Father, forgive me if I have grievances against my brother. I ask you to help me overcome these negative feelings. I pray for unity of the worship team and that everyone will play as one voice.
