Day 15 - ARE YOU WORSHIPPING WITH YOUR INSTRUMENTS ?

Scripture Reading: Ps 150:1 - 6, Ps 71:22-23

Ps 150:1 - 6
Praise the LORD!
Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
2 Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! 4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! 5 Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD!

Ps 71:22-23
22 Also with the lute I will praise you - And Your faithfulness, O my God!
To You I will sing with the harp, O Holy One of Israel.
23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, And my soul, which You have redeemed.


Discussion

Most musicians have the concept that songs are praises and music is only the support for the singers. This is a wrong concept. Do you know you should worship God with your instruments ? Many times, we leave all the praises to the singers. In reality, the act of playing a musical instrument is already praise to God. The Bible encourages us to praise Him with trumpets (wind ), harps (strings) and timbrel (percussion). So it does not matter whether you are playing the piano, drum or saxophone. As long as you are playing these instruments from your heart, they are considered worship to God.

Try to leave room for worship with instruments in your services. Play spontaneously and let your creative melodies be expressed as worship.


Prayer

Father, I pray that you will help me to worship you with my instruments. In my mind, let me understand that you are hearing every musical note I am playing. Help me to play from my heart as this will surely please you. I worship you with my instruments.
