WAH LOK'S WORSHIP DEVOTIONS

Wah Lok
Wah Lok

Welcome to my devotional page. I have written these devotions specially for those involved in the worship ministry. As you read them daily, I hope you will walk closer with God. Try to do one devotion per day and not all at one go. I pray my devotional thoughts will help you dedicate your music to God.

DAY 21 - REVIVAL MUST COME WITH FRESH SONGS

Scripture Reading: 2 Chron 29

2 Chron 29:3-7
3 In the first year of his reign, in the first month, he opened the doors of the house of the LORD and repaired them. 4 Then he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them in the East Square, 5 and said to them: "Hear me, Levites! Now sanctify yourselves, sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry out the rubbish from the holy place. 6 For our fathers have trespassed and done evil in the eyes of the LORD our God; they have forsaken Him, have turned their faces away from the dwelling place of the LORD, and turned their backs on Him. 7 They have also shut up the doors of the vestibule, put out the lamps, and have not burned incense or offered burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Israel.

2 Chron 29:25-30
25 And he stationed the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with stringed instruments, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, of Gad the king's seer, and of Nathan the prophet; for thus was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets. 26 The Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets. 27 Then Hezekiah commanded them to offer the burnt offering on the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD also began, with the trumpets and with the instruments of David king of Israel. 28 So all the assembly worshiped, the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded; all this continued until the burnt offering was finished. 29 And when they had finished offering, the king and all who were present with him bowed and worshiped. 30 Moreover King Hezekiah and the leaders commanded the Levites to sing praise to the LORD with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. So they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped.

Discussion

Hezekiah was one of the few good Kings of Judah. Prior to his reign, the temple was in total neglect. They have used it to store rubbish (verse 5). Burnt offerings were not offered. (verse 7). Hezekiah restored back the worship in the temple according to the command of David (verse 25). The Levites stood with instruments of David (verse 26). You should note that music and worship were restored when the temple was restored. Every revival must come with a partial restoration of music and worship according to David's pattern. Revival must come with fresh songs. From my studies of revivals, I have found that the Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal and Charismatic all came with their own flavor of worship songs. Are you praying for revival ? Be ready to write your songs. You may just become the next Charles Wesley.

Prayer

Father I pray for your anointing to write songs as you lead me. Help me to see what you are doing in the spirit and capture some of these moments into songs.
