Welcome to my devotional page. I have written these devotions specially for those involved in the worship ministry. As you read them daily, I hope you will walk closer with God. Try to do one devotion per day and not all at one go. I pray my devotional thoughts will help you dedicate your music to God.

Day 9 - ARE YOU PRACTISING YOUR INSTRUMENTS DAILY ?

Scripture Reading: 1 Chron 15:22, 1 Chron 25: 5-7

1 Chron 15:22
22Chenaniah, leader of the Levites, was instructor in charge of the music, because he was skillful.

1 Chron 25:5-7
5All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to exalt his horn. For God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. 6All these were under the direction of their father for the music in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, stringed instruments, and harps, for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the authority of the king. 7So the number of them, with their brethren who were instructed in the songs of the LORD, all who were skillful, was two hundred and eighty-eight.

Discussion

The word "skillful" is mentioned in both the above passages. The musicians who ministered at the temple were skillful. If your prime minister were to visit your church service, I am sure all the musicians would be practicing daily to make sure their song items were presented skillfully. Yet many musicians take music practices lightly. Some come for combine practices without even a single personal practice during the week. Does this do justice for a presentation to the King of Kings who visits our services every week ?

Strive for excellence in music. God is looking at our hearts to see if we are willing to give Him our best music. Give God your best music. Practice your instruments daily.

Prayer

Father, I pray you help me to be skillful with my instruments. I commit myself to practice daily to improve my skills so that I can give You my best music and songs.
