  Wah Lok's Testimonies

I became a Christian in 1974 when I was 14 years old. In 1980, I was baptized in the Holy Spirit. In 1981, I became a pioneer member of Full Gospel Tabernacle (FGT), an independent Charismatic church in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The church had only 30 very young people when it started. Over the last 20 years, the church grew gradually. Today, FGT has over 600 people with several branches in different parts of the country.

Between 1980-1988, I studied Mechanical Engineering in the University of Malaysia and graduated with a Masters of Engineering Science. I worked as an engineer for many years. Eventually, I became a Senior General Manager at the Soon Seng Group of Companies. In 1999, God called me out to full time service. It was really a difficult decision to make because of the financial sacrifices I had to make. Nevertheless, I obeyed the call and took up the position as Principal of Tung Ling Seminary. At the same time, I spent more time serving God in the worship and music ministry.

Since coming out full time, God re birthed the vision in my heart for Christian music in Malaysia. I have spent much more time in worship, writing songs and developing teaching materials on worship and music. I teach "Music and Worship" in the School of Ministry, Tung Ling Seminary.

In 2000, I commenced recording of my album "Every Time I Pray". The album will be released in April 2001.

God has given me a vision is to:-

  • Inspire a new generation of songwriters in Malaysia that will write songs that capture what God is doing and use these songs in their Churches.
  • Promote high quality recordings of Malaysian Gospel Music
  • Develop a Christian Music Industry where Christian Producers, Songwriters, Musicians and Artistes can make a living in their respective fields.

My music ministry began in Full Gospel Tabernacle. I served as a worship leader and musician. Over the last 20 years in the church, I had written over 70 songs, primarily for worship in the church. Some of these songs were written at crucial times, documenting many of the important events of our church history. "Every Time I Pray" was written in 1981 for our church camp. It was one of FGT's earliest songs.
