  WAH LOK'S WORSHIP DEVOTIONS

Wah Lok

Welcome to my devotional page. I have written these devotions specially for those involved in the worship ministry. As you read them daily, I hope you will walk closer with God. Try to do one devotion per day and not all at one go. I pray my devotional thoughts will help you dedicate your music to God.

Day 16 - WORSHIP IS SPIRITUAL WARFARE

Scripture Reading: 2 Chron 20:1-25

2 Chron 20:21-25
21 When he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who sang to the LORD and those who praised Him in holy attire, as they went out before the army and said, "Give thanks to the LORD, for His lovingkindness is everlasting."
22 When they began singing and praising, the LORD set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were routed.
23 For the sons of Ammon and Moab rose up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir destroying them completely; and when they had finished with the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.
24 When Judah came to the lookout of the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude, and behold, they were corpses lying on the ground, and no one had escaped.
25 When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take their spoil, they found much among them, including goods, garments and valuable things which they took for themselves, more than they could carry. And they were three days taking the spoil because there was so much.

Ps 149:6
6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand,

Discussion

The passages above give us an idea how powerful praise and worship is. When King Jehoshaphat was outnumbered by his enemies, he prayed earnestly. He then sent singers in front of his army (V 21). When the singers began to sing, the Lord set ambushes against the enemy (V22). The enemy was totally destroyed when Judah worshipped. Psalm 149:6 tells us that while high praises are in our mouth, our hands should be holding a two edged sword. So praise and warfare can be done side by side. When you praise God the next time, remember that when Jesus is lifted up, His enemies are scattered. When was the last time you played some warfare music ?

Prayer

Father, I thank you that there is power in Praise and Worship. Your enemies are scattered when we sing high praises and lift up the name of Jesus. I pray you help me to be skillful with a two edged sword in my hand as well as being skillful with praises.
